The Arab Committee on Credit Information (ACCI)
The Arab Committee on Credit Information was established in 2015 by a decision of the Council of Governors of Arab Central Banks and Monetary Authorities to support the development of credit information systems, enhance the safety and efficiency of financial and banking transactions, and contribute to financial stability.
The Committee comprises officials responsible for credit information systems and credit risk centres at Arab central banks and monetary authorities, as well as chairpersons and general managers of licensed credit bureaus in Arab countries. The Arab Monetary Fund serves as the Committee’s Technical Secretariat.
Objectives
The Committee contributes to the development of credit information systems and collateral and mortgage registries across Arab countries by advising national authorities on modernizing their systems and exploring opportunities for regional credit information exchange, while taking into account the applicable laws and regulations in each country.
It also strengthens cooperation and the exchange of expertise among credit reporting entities and relevant regional and international institutions, supporting their ability to keep pace with developments in financial activities, services, and products. The Committee also raises awareness of credit reporting issues through seminars and workshops.
Technical Secretariat
The Arab Monetary Fund serves as the Committee’s Technical Secretariat, organizing meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and following up on the implementation of its annual work programme. AMF also contributes to the preparation of studies and working papers presented to the Council of Governors of Arab Central Banks and Monetary Authorities at its annual meetings.
Cooperation with regional and international bodies
The Arab Committee on Credit Information is working closely with the International Committee on Credit Reporting, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and a number of other regional and international bodies.
